My story
I am someone who has always felt deeply, wondered at existence, and questioned everything.
My own path of personal growth and healing led me around the world, studying both formally and informally in ancient and contemporary healing arts. While it wasn’t always clear to me what I would end up doing - I wove my way through varying careers including health and fitness; event management; disability support and more - ultimately, life led me to psychotherapy.
Looking back, it makes a lot of sense that I ended up here. My journey, and resulting passion for healing, was fuelled by my own struggles early in life with anxiety, attachment disturbance, and disordered eating. I always sought something more than my experiences of suffering, and over time (a lot of it!) found that although it could feel dangerous, there was something healing about connection. I learned that healing is done best in the context of a safe and reliable relationship, and that well-practised psychotherapy can offer this. I am passionate about the need for safety in order to explore what can feel previously unheld within.
My work is informed, to a degree, by these experiences. Such is the gift of trauma and pain; they can give rise to growth, deep discovery, and a capacity for holding others through their own growth experiences.
I feel blessed to do this work; it’s a constant honour to share in witnessing people grow, thrive, and reach their potential.
I’m inspired by the natural human capacity for growth
I’m interested in how our learned patterns of being result from the contexts in which we develop and the losses and traumas we face. We are the way we are for very good reasons - AND change always remains possible.
I have an interest in the mind-body connection and extensive personal experience in embodied arts such as dance, calisthenics, and improvised movement and theatre. Because of this, I offer a holistic form of psychotherapy that can extend beyond the realms of verbal and intellectual understandings and accesses the wisdom of the body.
I believe everyone deserves to feel safe, heard, to experience agency in their lives; to feel the richness and fullness that life has to offer. These values are what motivate my work as a psychotherapist.
I believe that, with the support of a trusted therapeutic relationship, each person can access their innate capacity to change and work towards their unique potential. Accordingly, I work in a collaborative, warm and person-centred way to promote a sense of safety in relationship. Together we focus towards enhancing your understandings of your concerns, defining your goals and desires, and making positive change that helps you to realise a fulfilling life.
